The IIMS Certifying Authority has been coding vessels for commercial use for many years

The IIMS Certifying Authority is a department of the International Institute of Marine Surveying, based in Portchester in the UK. The Institute is the international professional body for over 1,000 members marine surveyors in over 90 countries.

Authorised under contract by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, (part of the UK Government), and audited annually by them, the IIMS is a leading and well known Certifying Authority. The IIMS CA has been providing boat and vessel coding surveys through its approved list of CA surveyors and examiners on commercially operated vessels up to 24 metres for many years.

The IIMS Certifying Authority fleet of coded vessels comprises charter yachts, motor boats, work boats, including windfarm crew vessels, pilot boats, rigid inflatable boats and catamarans. 

The IIMS Certifying Authority works to a strict set of procedures under the auspices of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. This means a team of experienced IIMS CA scrutineers check the work of the surveyors on all vessels that are put up for coding before they are officially certificated.
